Easter Chocolate Dirt Dessert

Hey! Surprise, I’m back! It actually feels so so nice to log back on to WordPress and get back into blogging. It was nice to have a few weeks off to really focus on schoolwork, but now I am so ready to jump back into it haha! 🙂 Thank you for all understanding ❤

Also, it’s Easter. Oh hey! Where has the first quarter of this year gone, like whattt? I hope you’re all having a lovely day with family, if you do choose to celebrate 🙂

Soooo for my first easter recipe (I’ve got another one coming next Sunday!), I’m sharing this (kind of) adorable Easter Chocolate “Dirt” Dessert. This recipe is basically chocolate mousse and crushed oreos, with mini eggs scattered throughout, with a whipped cream topping. I actually used the exact same mousse recipe from last Easter, I clearly have a thing for mousse around Easter… This recipe makes about eight servings. Enjoy! 🙂

Ingredients

300g dark chocolate, roughly chopped

3 eggs

1/4 cup caster sugar

1 tablespoon cocoa powder, sifted

300ml thickened cream, plus extra whipped cream to serve

205.5g packet of oreos

Mini eggs

Whipped cream

Decorations

Method:

  1. Place the chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pan of gently simmering water (don’t let the bowl touch the water). Stir until melted. Remove bowl from heat and set aside to cool slightly.
  2. Place eggs and sugar in a large bowl and beat with electric beaters for 5 minutes, or until mixture is pale, thick and doubled in volume. Fold in cooled chocolate and cocoa powder until combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whip cream until thickened (be careful not to over-beat). Use a large metal spoon to carefully fold the cream into the chocolate mixture, trying to keep the mixture as light as possible.
  4. Crush oreos using two zip-lock bags and spooned into bottom of each cup. Then add a layer of mousse, then a layer of oreos and continue until the cup is filled. In between layers, add several mini eggs. This was pretty messy and I didn’t have quite enough to fill my cups, hence why they turned out looking pretty crappy…
  5. Chill in fridge overnight, then top with whipped cream and decorations.
  6. Enjoy! 🙂

And of course,

Signature
